Photographer Andy Seliverstoff of St. Petersburg, Russia has owned dogs for over 25 years and has naturally become accustomed to shooting man’s best friend, especially big dogs like Great Danes. Over the last couple of years he’s gotten more serious about his photography and focuses on shooting mostly dogs, even naming his website GreatDaneChronicles. Hey says that not only are dogs his favorite models, but there are plenty of opportunities and subjects to shoot in his field.
One project that he’s been working on is called Little Kids and Their Big Dogs – a collection of friendly large dogs that interact with children. Great Danes, Saint Bernards, Leonbergers, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, and more display the bond they have with the children in their lives. That relationship makes for some moving compositions and along with Seliverstoff’s direction and patience, some cute pictures. His tip for capturing the best shot possible is that it’s necessary to love what you are shooting, the rest turns out by itself.
When asked why he started focusing full-time on photography projects like this Seliverstoff said that working with dogs brings him a lot of joy and that’s the best type of work he would wish upon anyone. He is releasing a book featuring the photos he’s taken over the years of little kids and their big dogs, hoping that the viewer sees and is inspired by the endless joy and mutual confidence his subjects put on display. The cute big dog photo series can be ordered via Revodana Publishing and ships as a quality hardcover book.
Here is a collection of some of those images. Seliverstoff’s favorite pictures are the compositions that involve the dogs jumping. Check out more of his work on his Instagram.
