Man shapes the environment around him. Building and changing to suite his needs. Building grand cities to live, work and play in. What happens when these structures are forgotten or neglected?

Below is a collection of some of the best images we could find that illustrate what happens when structures are being reclaimed by the environment they reside.

Nice photos but why do photographers always have to use HDR with that style of images…

Really astonishing inspirations. i think hdr and lomo on this pictures, gives a more intensity to th details and brings up the atmosphere of each ambient. I enjoy those effects when they empower a picture like this ones.

Astonishing photos. Would prefer to see less use of HDR, though. Distracts from sufficient natural beauty.

I love it, but I think the HDR effect in some pictures is exagerated.

Some stunning images. I love the decay of the buildings, gives a whole new look and feel to the places which were probably once quite bland.

Here is a site i found which has some nice urban decay photography from various disused sites:

this inspires me to go out and take some photos. i feel its a shame that old photography. is dead its all digital now its they say you can get the same effects with a digital but really you cant. nothing can replace the dark room. and the effects of developer and washes . but i guess i have to upgrade.
